I started running consistently in college, but I had no interest in signing up for a race. After graduation, I decided to try a 10K (2 days before the race, without any sort of training). I had a great time, but I wasn’t hooked. It wasn’t until I moved to Baltimore that I really became addicted. A large part of my inspiration stemmed from Thomas, who was training for a 50 miler when we first met. I thought he was out of his mind and I had no intentions of ever running more than 5 or 6 miles at a time. A few months later I signed up for the Baltimore 10-Miler. I loved it. I ended up finishing in great time (most importantly – faster than Thomas.) A few months later I was signed up for the Baltimore Marathon. With three weeks of training, I finished just under 4 hours. I’ve been running ever since and I have no plans of stopping. There’s an undeniable sense of community with this sport and I’ve met a ton of great people. Running has become a big part of my life and I can’t wait for the next challenge.
