Soleus GPS Fit Watch Review

photo-(12)Good friend and guest writer, Johnny Lyons, reviewed the Solus GPS Fit Watch. Here is his take on the device.

Good

Johnny: The Soleus GPS Fit is a no frills, no nonsense GPS watch. This watch is fantastic if you’re looking for reliable real-time information of your pace, time or distance during your run. It has a sleek, slim profile and an ‘old-school’ feel while using it – think of a Timex Ironman. It has 4 buttons for its operation, one of which doubles as a backlight for a late night jaunt around the ‘hood. The numbers are nice and big and easy to read, and its attractive band stays good and secure. The price tag is especially enticing: I was provided the GPS Fit for this review, but I’ve found the watch online for as low as $55.

Bad

Johnny:The downside to its incredible cost is its lack of features. There doesn’t seem to be a way to upload data onto your computer, or even look at a map of the course you covered. The battery life is good for long runs, but I’m not sure it would last through an ultra. It seems to require charging after every run, which I don’t see as a big deal. The GPS Fit has a ‘simple old-school’ feel, but it took me a solid week to figure out which buttons to push in order to get it into GPS mode. Partly because I’m used to a fancier watch, partly because I’m an idiot and I over-complicate everything. Turns out – you just push the ‘start’ button.

Conclusion

Johnny: If you’re looking for a low-cost, simplistic GPS watch, the Soleus GPS Fit is perfect. It has all of the essentials, it’s just missing some of the luxuries.

  1. Billy Gunn says:

Does this have Bluetooth capability to upload to Strav app etc.?

    1. I don’t think so. I believe they have a new model coming out that may have that capability.
