adidas adizero prime Parley Performance Review

The Good

The adidas adizero prime Parley is conceived from a partnership between adidas and Parley. Parley is on a mission to clean plastic out of the world’s oceans, adidas is taking that mission and creating products that use recycled plastic harvested from the oceans. adidas is even committing to phase out virgin plastics in their products altogether. The BOOST Parley editions keep 11 plastic bottles out of the sea.

Now that is all good, but who gives a crap if the shoes aren’t any good to run in, especially when the shoes cost $200.

If you like the adizero adios, you will like the prime Parley. The Parley sits low to the ground with a full-length BOOST midsole. The level of cushioning between the shoes is very comparable. The outsole has a similar pattern of Continental rubber with the adidas Torsion System plastic to add structure and stability to the midsole. The Parley has a 10mm drop, but it isn’t as noticeable because the stack is so low.

The prime knit upper is a stretchy knit sock, and it fits snugly. When I was wearing the shoe around before my runs, I thought the shoe was too tight and maybe too short. When I was running the knit upper stretches and holds your foot well over the midsole. The heel counter and ankle collar are exceptionally comfortable.

Running in the shoe, I was pleased with the way the small amount of BOOST provided enough protection and cushion. At 8.45 oz. for a size 10.5, it is easy to pick up the pace in Parley, it was also fun. I was coming off an injury when I started putting miles in on the prime Parley, so it was comfortable at slower paces and felt good enough that I started testing my turnover. I was confident in the shoes and finally was able to push the pace.

The Bad

The price is hefty. $200 clams! They are close enough to the adios and identical to the adidas adizero Prime LTD which you can get on sale for $149. The shoes run tight, but I don’t recommend going up a half size. I guess that the prime knit upper has to be tight because it stretches. If you go for a size up the shoe will probably get sloppy. If you want the Parley for fashion, maybe go up, for running it feels fine once you are moving.

The adidas adizero prime Parley Conclusion

I like this shoe. It is not a shoe I would run in every day. The Parley is better for days you feel like picking up the pace. Find the limited edition trainer at Running Warehouse.
